Last weekend we released Aeon Timeline 2.2, the next significant update for Aeon Timeline. As far as “minor” releases go, this one is pretty big, and includes the following:
- Tighter integration and more control when syncing with Scrivener (see video below)
- The ability to sync with Ulysses in a similar fashion
- A much-requested “NOW” line marking the current day/time on the timeline
- More control over date and time formatting
- A new “list” property type
- And dozens of other requests, additions and bug fixes
Rather than list all the changes to Scrivener and Ulysses syncing in this email, here is a video showing our syncing functionality in action:
iPad Progress Update
As mentioned at the beginning of the year, we have been working hard to create an iPad version of Aeon Timeline too.
The UI design is complete and alpha prototypes created. The touch-based small-screen interface means we have had to change how certain tasks are performed, but I am pretty excited by how it is coming together.
Our next step will be designing and implementing robust syncing between the iOS and Desktop versions. I have learnt better than to predict release dates this far out, but in my optimistic moments I let myself believe we will be on the home straight once that is complete.
Call for Case Studies
Aeon Timeline began life as a tool for writers, and our recent updates show that we have no plans to forget our roots. But Aeon Timeline does a lot more now for a wider range of users.
We receive support questions somewhat regularly asking for example timelines, videos, and case studies showing how other people are using Aeon Timeline within their particular industry, and I am keen to pull together material for our website to help everyone make the most of Aeon Timeline.
As always, I would love one or two of our writer friends to contribute, but I am particularly keen to hear from anyone using Aeon Timeline for Project Management, Legal use, Historical use, or Education also.
If you think you might be able to contribute a case study and/or example timelines on how you use Aeon Timeline and how it helps with your work, I would love to hear from you.
If the above video and the new syncing functionality has whetted your appetite for Scrivener, this next offer is for you.
Each year we team up with a group of other indie developers as part of our SummerFest promotion. As always, there are many great Mac apps with a particular emphasis on research and writing tools.
