Novel divided in 3 parts

Hello, my novel is divided in 3 parts, should I create a separate project for each? I ask because Id like to hide say part one and just have the generic title so that I can move freely when adding events to part 2 and not get confused. Also, if you recommend creating a new w project how can I import the characters from part 1? Its a long novel, I'm afraid! Cheers

Hi, If you want to have the whole novel in one file, but be able filter/collapse certain parts of the novels, then you can use entities to do this. If you go to Timeline Settings (the cog icon) and then Entity Types, you can create a new Entity Type called “Part” (or you can use the existing “Arc” Entity Type, which would be similar) Then if you go to Manage Entities, and add new Entities of this type (click on the green plus sign next to the title) called “Part 1”, “Part 2”, “Part 3” etc Now you can assign which part of the novel each event belongs to. Click on an event, and go to the Roles tab. Next to the heading Part/Arc you can assign Part1 / Part 2 / Part 3 for the event. When each event has been assigned what Part it belongs to, you can then use this to either filter your events by part, or order them vertically and hide certain parts. To Filter: Click the filter icon on the top right (it looks like a funnel) Click to add a filter, and you can choose to only show events from certain parts To Group Events and Collapse: Click on the “Group By” icon on the top right of the tool bar (four horizontal lines). Click on “Group By Part/Arc” and it will divide your events in the vertical space by which Part they belong to. You will see headings above each section which tell you which part the events below belong to. You can then collapse parts by clicking the arrow next to this heading. I hope this is helpful to you, please let us know if you need anymore clarification on these areas. I just use Arc and name them "Act I", "Act II", and "Act III". It's easy to hide/show Arcs.
